TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An Alvara Research Center study found President Joko `Jokowi` Widodo presides Prabowo Subianto in the Banten Province prior to the registration of the 2019 presidential election. Measured by each candidate`s popularity among the public, Jokowi rates 95.8 percent with a 53.8 percent `top of the mind` while Prabowo scored 94.3 percent with 33.3 percent top of the mind.
“In an open simulation, Jokowi’s electability scored 56 percent while Prabowo scored 28.7 percent,” said Alvara Research Center CEO Hasanuddin Ali in a written statement on Thursday, August 23. Other figures scored 7.1 percent and 8.2 percent were undecided.
The closed simulation also placed Jokowi above Prabowo scoring 58.5 percent while Prabowo’s electability scored 29.5 percent while 12 percent were undecided.
Ali explained that Jokowi’s electability in Banten grew rapidly compared to his political opponent and predicts that the gap between both candidates would not be as much as the 2014 Presidential Election that saw Prabowo scoring 57.10 percent and Jokowi with 42.90 percent in Banten.
Furthermore, Ali said that Jokowi’s improved electability in the region shows that Banten has started to appreciate the work of Jokowi and Jusuf Kalla during their current administration scoring a public satisfaction of 86.2 percent.
