First Constitutional Court Hearing for Election Dispute Kickstarts on Wednesday

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Constitutional Court or MK has scheduled the first hearing of the 2024 election dispute for the presidential election for tomorrow, March 27, 2024. The agenda is a preliminary examination of the applications brought before the court.

"So the applicants will deliver the points of their petition in tomorrow's (Wednesday) hearing," said Constitutional Court spokesperson Fajar Laksono when met at the Constitutional Court Building, Central Jakarta on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.

He explained that tomorrow the Constitutional Court will hear two cases. First, case number 1/PHPU.PRES-XXII/2024 with Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar as the Applicants. Second, case number 2/PHPU.PRES-XXII/2024 with Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud Md. as Applicants. These two cases will be heard separately.

"At 8 a.m. WIB (Western Indonesia Time) in the morning for case 1, then at 1 p.m. WIB in the afternoon until case 2 is finished," said Fajar.

Furthermore, he revealed that the Constitutional Court provides a quota of 12 seats for each party, not including the presidential candidate and vice presidential candidate if they attend the hearing. The 12 seats are given for legal counsel and spokespersons.
