TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Home Affairs Ministry issued a circular letter on August 20, for all regional leaders across the country to further facilitate and provide humanitarian aid for the earthquake-stricken Lombok in West Nusa Tenggara.
The ministry’s secretary general Hadi Prabowo said that the letter is the ministry's response towards being proactive in handling the earthquakes in Lombok.
“The first thing is that there was a request from the NTB governor asking for assistance from the central government and the governors from 34 provinces. The second is that regional administrations have shown huge interests to further assist the earthquake victims and will use each region’s regional budget (APBD),” said Hadi at his office on Tuesday, August 21.
According to Hadi, asking other provinces to help out and facilitate the victims of theLombok earthquake victims are not against regional finance laws. He further asked everyone to view the step taken by the ministry as a positive step.
