TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC) chairman Erick Thohir has lauded the free transportation services provided by Transjakarta for journalists covering the 2018 Asian Games.

“The free-fare bus services are an amazing form of support from the Jakarta administration, especially from PT Transjakarta. We deeply appreciate them for that,” Erick Thohir told a press conference at the City Hall, Central Jakarta, today.

The journalists, according to Erick, will get specially-made cards that will integrate them with Transjakarta buses where they will only need to tap their ID card at Transjakarta bus stops. Journalists can collect their cards at the Main Press Center Asian Games.

“Journalists are part of the committee and have essential tasks to report the sporting events throughout the Asian Games. So there must be free [transportation] services [for them],” said Erick.

According to the INASGOC chairman, the free bus rides will be available to journalists from August 10 to September 15. These services are hoped to further accommodate journalists’ duties in reporting the upcoming 2018 Asian Games.
