Mandiri, BRI ATM Down Following Lombok Earthquake

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The 7 magnitude earthquake occurred in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, on Sunday have affected several banking facilities. Bank Mandiri and BRI reported that dozens of their Automated Teller Machines (ATM) in some office branches were down.


Bank Mandiri Corporate Secretary, Rohan Hafas, said that 76 Bank Mandiri’s ATM in Lombok and surrounding areas were still down. “We're doing the system recovery,” he said when contacted in Jakarta, Tuesday, August 7.


Rohan also said that one Bank Mandiri branch office in the Pemenang Village, North Lombok was totally destroyed, three branch offices were slightly damaged and 18 branch offices were experiencing network loss or offline.


The Lombok earthquake has taken dozens of lives and injured many. Not only public infrastructure, residents' houses were also damaged and even destroyed.


BRI Corporate Secretary Bambang Tribaroto reported that 38 ATM machines were still down. “We are currently improving it (the system) so that it can operate again,” he said.


Bambang did not specify the number of losses, but BRI has operated 4 banking cars and 1 BRI e-buzz due to the branch offices that are damaged and unable to operate following the Lombok quake.
