TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Indonesia`s Meteorology ,Climatology, and Geology Agency (BMKG) has reported that 163 aftershocks had occurred in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, by Monday afternoon at 1 p.m. local time.

"Out of the 163 aftershocks, 13 were felt by the people," Head of Indonesia`s Meteorology Climatology Geology Agency Rahmat Triyono noted on Monday.

The agency has been monitoring the aftershocks of a 7 magnitude earthquake that jolted Lombok on Sunday at 6:46 p.m. local time.

Apart from monitoring, the agency has been communicating intensively with West Nusa Tenggara`s Disaster Mitigation Office in a bid to take immediate measures in the event of another major aftershock.

"We will continue to monitor the aftershocks as it might occur for the next few days or even for the next few weeks," Triyono revealed.

On Sunday, the agency announced that the magnitude 7 earthquake had a potential to trigger a tsunami, as its epicenter was located at a depth of 15 kilometers. But the warning was revoked on Sunday at 8:25 p.m., after a 13-centimeter minor tsunami occurred in the northern coastal area of Lombok.

"At least, until the next three days, we are trying our best to predict how long the aftershock will last," Triyono remarked.
