Govt Introduces Seminyak Integrated Waste Management Facility

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Public Works and Public (PUPR) Ministry installed a garbage counter at the Integrated Waste Management Site (TPST 3R) in Seminyak, Bali that reduces, reuses, and recycles garbage.
“The garbage counter is the seventh one at a national strategic tourism area (KSPN) that was made possible by students at the Gadjah Mada University (UGM),” PUPR Ministry’s head of research and development Raden Satrio Sang Raksono in a written statement on Saturday, July 28.
Raden Satrio stated that the teaching materials that came with the handover of the equipment states that the plastic waste could be used as a mix in road asphalts and building materials such as paving blocks.
Before the one in Bali, according to the PUPR Ministry there has been waste management machines installed in several KSPNs such as Labuan Bajo in NTT, Lake Toba, Toraja in South Sulawesi, and East Java’s Bromo.
PUPR Ministry Secretary General Anita Firmanti said that the TPST 3R in Seminyak was initiated by the Directorate General Cipta Karya since 2015 that costs Rp650 million and built on a 570 square-meter land.
