TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - South Jakarta Mayor Marullah Matali prepared multiple preparations to enliven 2018 Lebaran Betawi, an annual festival of Batavia culture. The festival will be held in Betawi Cultural Village Setu Babakan for three days on July 27-29.

"Various preparations have been made to enliven 2018 Lebaran Betawi in Setu Babakan," said Marullah through a written statement, Wednesday, July 25.

The preparations include mayor's house revitalization, constructing entertainment stage by the Tourism and Culture Agency, lighting facility from the Industry and Energy Agency, providing ambulance and deploying medical officer by the Health Agency.

To maintain the security during the event, the city administration would deploy hundreds of Public Service Orders.

The city officials would also provide trash bins and trucks. "We will deploy a cleaning team to help deal with the waste issue," he said.

In Lebaran Betawi, Marullah added, a number of cultural and artistic performances will be presented such as Batavia dance, traditional music (tanjidor, gambang kromong, keroncong Jakarta), leather puppets, ondel-ondel (giant puppet), lenong (theater), palang pintu (Betawi wedding ceremony), topeng (mask) dance, and many traditional games as well as cinema.

In the peak event, all Jakarta mayors will provide food delivery to Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan. "We will deliver foods to the Governor, which consist of Pecak Gurame, Gabus Pucung and Dodol Betawi from Pasar Minggu. This is a Batavian tradition that should be preserved," Marullah added regarding the peak of 2018 Lebaran Betawi festival.
