TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Waykanan District Agricultural Agency in Lampung introduced a typical robusta coffee of the region which was named Putri Malu (a shy princess). The coffee was promoted in 2018 Coffee Festival in West Lampung.

“This typical brand comes from Waykanan district. We want to popularize this coffee throughout central Lampung and its provinces,” said Bani Aras, the head of Waykanan District Agricultural Agency, at the festival, Sunday, July 22.

Bani asserted Putri Malu coffee was different than other coffees for its unique taste and smell. “Putri Malu has been promoted since 2017 so that it will be famous like other kinds of coffee.”

Waykanan Deputy Mayor Edward Antony said there were many types of coffees in the region and that all used Putri Malu brand in a bid to promote tourism destination Putri Malu waterfall in Banjit sub-district.

“We have to focus to promote the coffee thus we will later see its development in the future,” he said, adding that Waykanan District has 30 hectares of red coffee farms in Banjit, Kasui, and Rebang Tangkas sub-district.
