TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan visited State Elementary School Kampung Melayu 01/02, East Jakarta, today, July 16. The visit was aimed to socialize a program for parents to accompany children to school on their first day.

By the time Anies set foot, hundreds of students flocked to him and that he was pushed due to the children's enthusiasm.

“Don’t push each other, please on order,” several teachers wearing civil servants’ uniform loud.

With a smile on his face, Anies Baswedan called on the children to calm. He even carried one child on his arm. However, the program socialization was done smoothly.

According to Anies, the program was aimed at creating the interaction between teachers and parents. “So all potentials of children can grow well, and if there is a problem, it can be solved quickly,” said Anies.

After greeting the children, Anies was seen talking with teachers and parents. A fourth-grade student named Varel Burangrang expressed his joy that Anies Baswedan visited his school. He said it was the first time for him to meet the Jakarta governor.” Usually, I see [him] only on TV,” he said.
