TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - After residents of Jakarta’s coastal areas were shocked by a sighting of a crocodile in the waters of Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, Jakartans were in for another surprise by yet another crocodile sighting at the Grogol River in West Jakarta.

“The report [of the crocodile sighting] came in yesterday,” said West Jakarta’s Head of fire management and evacuation Rompis Ramlih today, June 27.

Rompis explained that he already dispatched a team to handle the report and has monitored the location in search of the crocodile since Wednesday morning. “The team is still on the location [this afternoon] since we have yet found the crocodile,” he said.

Rompis is yet able to confirm whether there is more than one crocodile that emerged at the river. However, a social media user suggested that there is more than one crocodile in the river.

Crocodile is known as an active predator, which is why its sighting in the middle of an urban setting must not be taken lightly. On June 14, a crocodile emerged in Tanjung Priok and was shot by a member of the Indonesian Navy, but the crocodile remains to be seen till this day.
