Ancol Set Up Safety Net, Keep Away Crocodile

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Corporate Communication Officer of Taman Impian Jaya Ancol Rika Lestari, said that the viral footage of a crocodile sighting did not take place in Ancol Beach. "[The video] was taken in Pondok Dayung, Tanjung Priok Port," Rika said in a written statement on Friday, June 15, 2018.
The animal was found by a member of the Indonesian Naval Army on Thursday afternoon, June 14, 2018.
Rika explained that Pondok Dayung, where the crocodile was found, is located six kilometers away from Ancol. Rika added that the crocodile is unlikely to enter the beach because its natural habitat is swamp water.
Nevertheless, as a precaution measure, Ancol management has decided to install a string of safety nets on Ancol beach pool. Rika said that this is a standard operating procedure. "We want to make visitors feel comfortable," Rika said.
