Sandiaga: LRT Will be Finished Before Asian Games

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor of Jakarta Sandiaga Uno, conducted a filed inspection at the construction site of the Light Rail Transit in Boulevard Raya Selatan station in Kelapa Gading on Thursday, June 14, 2018. The inspection was conducted to check on the preparedness of the LRT ahead of the certification process by the Transportation Ministry.


"I was informed that we are on schedule. I hope we can be on budget and [the construction] is according to the specifications," Sandiaga said during the inspection. "We will be operating on August, before the Asian Games and onward to have 1 million passengers. For MRT, by God’s willing will be [operating] on March 2019,” Sandiaga added.


Sandiaga promised that the Jakarta administration will make sure that all preparations for the LRT will run smoothly. "We will make sure it is on schedule because this is very important," said Sandiaga.


Sandiaga arrived at the South Boulevard station on Thursday, June 14, 2018 afternoon, and immediately attend to a safety briefing from Jakarta Propertindo officials. After the briefing, Sandiaga rides an LRT unit for a trial run. During the trial run, the LRT unit travels at 80 kilometers per hour for as far as 1.1 kilometer.


Following the inspection, Sandiaga said that he was satisfied with the first phase progress and hoped that the second phase can be started immediately. "The second phase hopefully can begin next year," Sandiaga said.
