TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno planned to establish a training for those people coming to the capital city after 2018 Eid al-Fitr in a bid to help them able to compete and survive in the city.

“We’ll provide training so they can obtain some skills,” said Sandiaga Uno today, June 12, in Senayan, Central Jakarta.

Sandiaga Uno planned to synergize his program One Kecamatan (subdistrict) One Center for Entrepreneurship or OK-OCE with private institutions for the workshop. However, he underlined, if the newcomers willing to be a beggar, thus they will be sent to social homes.

Despite the plan, Sandiaga Uno pinned hope the home-comers can create new jobs in their respective region. “Encouraging their friend to boost the regional economy,” he said.

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan also reportedly will welcome the people from regions to venture in the city.

“Every Indonesian citizen has a right to have a job wherever it is, there’s no rule that prohibits it, including in Jakarta,” said Anies Baswedan in National Monument, on Wednesday, June 6.

Urbanization in Jakarta after Eid’s homecoming season is a common issue. In 2017, the Population and Civil Registration Agency (Dukcapil) recorded 70,752 people entering Jakarta. The figure was obtained from the difference of the homecoming flow and the return flow and that the situation will likely occur this year.
