TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - House of Representatives (DPR) deputy speaker Fadli Zon has urged the government to revise the Presidential Decree (Perpres) No. 42 of 2018 on financial and facility rights for the Agency for the Implementation of State Ideology of Pancasila(BPIP) officials ratified by President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo.

In the Perpres, the salary for Megawati Soekarnoputri as the chair of the agency's steering committee is Rp112,548,000 per month, while the committee's members receive Rp100,811,000 per month.

“That BPIP salary is fantastic, it’s even higher than the salary of the president, vice president, and other [officials of] state institutions despite BPIP's being a non-structural agency,” said Fadli Zon today after meeting with Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X in Yogyakarta.

According to Fadli Zon, the salary mentioned in the decree was not in accordance with the touted spirit of bureaucratic reform and state budget saving. “We demand this regulation be reviewed so its standarization will be clear,” said the Gerindra politician.

Other than Megawati, Try Sutrisno, Ahmad Syafii Maarif, Said Aqil Siradj, Ma'ruf Amin, Mahfud Md., Sudhamek, Andreas Anangguru Yewangoe, and Wisnu Bawa Tenaya as members of the steering committee receive a monthly salary of over Rp100 million.

Fadli Zon said a review to the policy was necessary, given that many people in different professions were still receiving low salaries, including honorary workers. “If there is a flexibility for the budget management, we hope it's allocated to increase the salary of honorary workers,” he underlined.

Fadli Zon said that logically the salaries of non-structural agencies' officials should be lower than those of the structural ones'. “In addition, BPIP is not a state agency that can generate big money such as SOEs, so their salaries should be lower than structural agencies',” he said.
