TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Zakat Board of Indonesia (BAZNAS) plans to generate at least Rp8 trillion from Muslim’s annual alms in 2018. “We hope that during this Ramadan we will collect Rp 3 trillion from Baznas central, province, and city,” said Arifin.

Meanwhile, the new program that has partnered with Go-Pay, which enables users to pay alms through a QR code. Arifin hopes that it would be able to collect at least Rp2 billion from zakat and other alms.

Baznas and Go-Pay has placed a QR code throughout 36 Baznas outlets located at malls, office buuildings, public facilities, billboards, and train stations in the Jakarta greater area.

Arifin explained that members of the public can pay their alms by scanning the QR code using the Go-Jek application. The money that has been sent will be handed to Baznas to be distributed to the people in needs.

“This is much safer, it will be able to directly enter Baznas’ treasury. Which then we will give it to the poor,” He said.

Arifin hopes that this program would increase the number of participants that enter Baznas since it offers the ease to pay alms, however, the QR code feature is still limited to the use in the Jakarta Greater Areas.
