Ex-Malaysian PM Najib Razak Calls off His Visit to Indonesia

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib Razak canceled his visit to Indonesia. The information was stated on the official Facebook account of Malaysia`s Immigration Departement.


The account wrote a statement about banning Najib Razak and his wife to go abroad. “The Immigration Department of Malaysia wants to confirm that Dato Sri Najib Tun Abdul Razak and Datin Sri Rosmah Mansor have just been blacklisted from going overseas,” it said on the Facebook page, Saturday, May 12.


Najib Razak posted his response to the ban on his official Twitter account @NajibRazak, saying that he and his wife will be staying in Malaysia.


“I have been informed that the Immigration Department of Malaysia doesn’t allow me and my family to go overseas. I respect the instruction and will be staying in the country with my family,” he said.

Directorate General of Immigration of Indonesia claimed they were not informed of the ex-Malaysian PM's visit to Indonesia, “Not yet, we have not received any information yet,” said the Immigration DG's Head of Public Relations Agung Sampurno.


Agung also did not aware of the information about the ban to go overseas made by Malaysia's immigration towards Najib Razak.


Based on Tempo's observation at Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport, there is no guard posted in the arrival gate. The journalists were also informed by the employees at the airport's VIP room in Sasana Manggala Praja building that they were not made aware of the plan of ex-Malaysian PM`s arrival at all.


Previously, Najib Razak was scheduled to visit Indonesia today at 10 am (GMT+7). He would arrive at Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport from Antarabangsa Subang, Skypark Airport, Selangor, with his wife, as quoted from Astro AWANI. Meanwhile, Malaysiakini wrote that the couple took leave for two days in Indonesia.
