Garuda Indonesia Opens Jakarta-Pangkalan Bun Route in June

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned carrier Garuda Indonesia has opened a new route Jakarta-Pangkalan Bun that will be officially operated in June.
Marketing and Technology Director of Garuda Indonesia Nina Sulistiyowati stated the new route will serve one flight a day using CRJ Bombardier 1000 with the capacity of 96 passengers.
“The flight route is one of our commitment to expand the connectivity to Central Kalimantan and further enhance the potential network of national flight,” she said on Wednesday, April 18.
Nina explained the flight is expected to strengthen the infrastructure in Pangkalan Bun area, particularly in supporting its tourism potential, investment, and industrial sector. The main target of the new route is businessmen and tourists from Jakarta as the center of the national economy.
Furthermore, Nina went on to say thatGaruda Indonesia has launched three flights per week of Ketapang-Semarang-Pangkalan Bun route which its seat load factor reached above 80 percent on average. The result showed that Pangkalan Bun is a potential market.
