TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan vowed to examine the final investigation report (LAHP) from Indonesia Ombudsman regarding the land dispute in Pari Island. The report noted Ombudsman’s request to Jakarta Administration to restore the initial status of Pari Island as fisherman residence, sea habitat, and marine ecosystem.

“I will study the matter,” said Anies Baswedan in Central Jakarta, Monday, April 9.

Indonesia Ombudsman revealed its finding which outlined the maladministrations such as procedural violation, authority manipulation, and oversight of legal obligation on issuing the freehold title (SHM) and building rights title (SHGB) under the name PT Bumi Pari Asri in Pari Island.

One of the recommendations is Ombudsman urged the city official to restore the initial purpose of Pari Island as the society or fisherman residence based on Regional Decree No. 1/2012 Chapter 172 (2e) on Spatial Planning of 2030 as an effort to preserve small islands, fisherman, sea habitat, and marine ecosystem.

The land dispute began in 2014 when PT Bumi Pari Asri claimed over 90 percent of land in Pari Island. Jakarta Regional Legislative Council has previously provided the hearing and concluded that 40 percent of Pari Island for community residence, 50 percent for the tourism sector, and 10 percent for the public facility. However, the allocation is not clear since the local residents could not able to obtain the land certificate.
