Anies Baswedan Comments on BNN`s Hesitance to Share Drugs Info

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said that he is committed to executing any violations of the regional policies and the Governor`s Decree.
“We have high commitments and we are even ready to execute anything proven to be a violation. We will execute sanctions,” said Anies Baswedan on Wednesday, February 21.
The governor’s statement was a response to the doubts shown by Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Budi Waseso. Budi was reluctant to reveal the data of 36 nightlife entertainment businesses in Jakarta where drug deals usually take place.

The fact was discovered by BNN after the agency conducted a random investigation on 81 nightlife entertainment spots throughout Jakarta.
However, Budi revealed that he is reluctant to share it with the Jakarta Administration if Governor Anies Baswedan and his peers do not show seriousness in overcoming drug-related problems in Indonesia’s capital.
“I will not share the information if those businesses cannot be closed,” said Budi Waseso.
Furthermore, Anies Baswedan said that he is committed to upholding the law in the city he is currently leading.
