TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government and Waskita Karya will conduct a total evaluation of the Becakayu Toll road project following the accident occurred this morning, Feb. 20.

State-owned Enterprises Ministry`s deputy for construction and transportation facilities and infrastructure (KSPP) Ahmad Bambang said his office will coordinate with Waskita as the Becakayu toll road contractor project, PUPR Ministry as the technical advisor, and Transportation Ministry as the project owner.

Bambang stated that Becakayu toll poles, which lead to the incident, were from previous investors. Therefore, he said that the three ministries and Waskita will conduct a total evaluation of the project construction.

The evaluation will be held as for Waskita to maintain the project quality and obtain a decent profit. "It must be understood that the profit Waskita will get is from the operation, they will lose if the cost is expensive yet (the construction is) in poor quality," said Bambang on Tuesday, February 20.

Related to the moratorium on the elevated toll road project, Bambang handed it over to PUPR Ministry to conduct a review.

Sri Handono, a Health and Safety Expert of PUPR Ministry, said that her side has not yet discussed the sanctions for the Becakayu Toll incident as it still needs to conduct an internal investigation thoroughly before determining sanctions. "Now that the investigation is still underway, we have not drawn any conclusion yet," Sri stated.
