TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The former House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Setya Novanto believes that there are other big names other than himself that were involved in the electronic ID card (e-KTP) graft.
“Yes, big names. I don’t know whether it’s about their social status or other types of influences, we’ll see it later. The process will prove it. But what is clear is that Pak Novanto’s role was less influential in this case, considering that the budgeting and planning were already well prepared beforehand, and that has its own agencies,” said Firman Wijaya, who currently represents Setya Novanto.

Setya Novanto is scheduled to undergo a court session to hear witness testimonies after Setya’s exception was denied by the judge.
Firman also said that Setya Novanto plans to submit himself as a justice collaborator for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
“The facts will reveal where Setya Novanto was positioned [in this case]. The most influential is the budgeting process. Finding who initiated the budgeting is important,” Firman explained.

Firman said that the option in becoming a justice collaborator is not an easy choice since it could make Setya a target, which is why Firman urged authorities to explain the protection model that would be provided for Setya once he becomes a justice collaborator.
Setya Novanto is charged with receiving US$7.3 million and a US$135 thousand Richard Mille wristwatch from the e-KTP project. He received the money from his nephew, Hendra Pambudi Cahyo, and his business partner Celta Energy who was in Singapore.
