Industry Ministry Strengthens Economic Structure through IKM

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto keeps maintaining and developing Small and Medium Manufacturing (IKM) sector in order to strengthen national industry structure.


In order to do so, Industry Ministry keeps pushing the growth of IKM population in line with priority sectors that are being pushed to go into large scale industry.


“We facilitate skill improvement for 43 IKM centers including food IKM center, wooden products and furniture IKM center, chemistry IKM center, clothes and crafts center and IKM center of metal, machine, electronics and lorries,” Airlangga said in Jakarta on Saturday (30/12).


Airlangga continued that the government have devoted some efforts to improve funding access for IKM including by means of micro-credit program (KUR), Agency for Revolving Fund Management for Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (LPDB), Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI), and financing firm Pemodalan Nasional Madani (PNM).


In addition, Industry Ministry strongly encourages national IKM development to use digital platform e-Smart IKM to increase market access online or through internet marketing.
