TEMPO.CO, Magetan - Tornado struck some of the areas of Magetan Regency, East Java, and it caused dozens of houses damaged and a number of trees fallen on Saturday afternoon (16/12).
The tornado hit Taji, Ginuk and Temboro villages of Karas District at 4.20 p.m. A number of trees fell on the road track along Ginuk village toKendal village, Ngawi. Some of the trees block transportation access and others fell on houses, Magetan BPBD emergency and logistics headFery Yoga Saputra explained.
"Based on the report from the field, roof tiles of dozens of houses flew out, carried away by the wind. Until now, we are still collecting data on the number of houses affected and the estimation of loss," Fery said.
He added that the tornado cut the electricity access since the cables were dragged down by the fallen trees.
"To expedite evacuating a number of trees blocking the road, a joint team used heavy vehicles to remove big trees from Ginuk Street, Magetanto Simo Kendal, Ngawi," he continued.
In addition, he said that BPBD, Emergency Response unit forum (Tagana), Social Agency, Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), National Military, Police and the local people work together to deal with the aftermath of this disaster.
