One Killed, Three Injured in Residential Brawl in Bekasi

TEMPO.CO, Bekasi - Residential brawl between two groups of residents took place in front of Tytyan Indah housing complex in North Bekasi district on Saturday at dawn. The brawl caused one die and three people injured.


Police identify the victim as Liem Em Sam (39). The victim was stabbed all over his body. Meanwhile, the three injured victims are Sugiarto (35) ganged up in the brawl, Noval Adam (20) and Deni (34) suffered from injury by rocks thrown at them.


Bekasi Police chief Sr. Comr. Indarto stated that the situation has returned to normal. After the incident, hundreds of Mobile Brigade (Brimob) officers were deployed to anticipate sweeping in the area. "The case is still under investigation, we have received reports from the victims," he explained on Saturday, Dec. 16.


This incident began when Bambang, a vendor in Seroja Market of North Bekasi, scolded a group of young men drinking on Friday night at around 10:30 p.m. This group got angry and got into argument with Bambang. Bambang then reported it to the leader of one of mass organizations in the area.


Another resident, Dadang, receiving the report came to the scene with Sugiarto to resolve the issue. However, Sugiarto was instead attacked by the drunk young men by sharp pieces of glass and punches.


Another brawl took place at the entrance of Tytyan Indah complex involving two groups namely the mass organization group and the group of young men. They threw rocks at each other. Liem Em Sam from a member of the mass organization was ganged up and stabbed to death.
