Zero Percent Down-payment Housing Program Ready by End of 2018

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta`s affordable housing program entitled the Zero Percent Down Payment program introduced by Governor Anies Baswedan and Deputy Sandiaga Uno will only be realized by the end of 2018.
“We can sell the houses to the public by the end of next year,” said Public Housing and Settlement Head Agustino Darmawan.
The zero down payment housing program was one of the most featured plans during Anies and Sandiaga’s Gubernatorial Election Campaign. The pair promised that Jakartans would be able to purchase a house without any down payments. At the time, many people were skeptical towards the program considering Jakarta’s extraordinary land value inflation.

Koran Tempo reported on Wednesday, December 6, that Anies-Sandi will be realizing the program in the form of low-cost apartments.
According to Agustino Darmawan, the construction of the apartment will commence in early 2018 and will be available to the public at the end of 2018. Their initial plan is to construct it in three locations in Pulogadung and Pondok Kelapa, East Jakarta and in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta.
Future selected apartment buyers will own their units for 20 years with a guarantee in the form of a building rights title after they completed their mortgage. The ownership of an apartment unit can be extended to a certain period of time. Tenants can only sell their apartment units through the Jakarta’s Housing Department.
