TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The former Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok, who is currently incarcerated for religious blasphemy, was placed fourth in the electability of public figures poll at the 2019 Presidential Election.

According to the poll done by Indo Barometer, Ahok gained 3.3 percent support from 1,200 respondents spread across 34 provinces. Meanwhile, current Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan - who won the election by a thin margin – obtained 3.6 percent electability in the same poll which puts him in the third position.

TNI Commander Gatot Nurmantyo was placed just under Ahok in fifth while President Joko Widod topped the poll followed by Gerindra Chairman Prabowo Subianto in the second.

A supporter of Ahok explained on why did Ahok’s electability remain high. “Pak Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok was notably known to be against corruption, clean, and transparent,” said Jack Lapian during an interview on Monday, December 4.

Jack, who is Ahok’s fanatic supporters in the 2017 Jakarta Gubernatorial Election, is the founder of BTP (Basuki Tjahaja Purnama) Network. He is also the person who reported Ahmad Dhani to the police for allegedly spreading hate on Twitter.

According to Jack, Indo Barometer’s poll result showed that Ahok is still in the top of the public’s mind nationally. He also claimed that the tense campaign that was saturated by issues related to SARA (ethnicity, religion, and race) in Jakarta did not influence the majority of people in Indonesia.
