Jakarta Admin Offers Emission Testing, Online Registration Opened

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta administration will be offering free vehicle emission testing on Sunday, December 17.
The emission testing will be held on Jalan Benyamin Suaeb, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta. “Car owners may register online,” Jakarta Environment Office head Isnawa Adji said yesterday in a written statement received by Tempo.

Andono Warih, director of Environmental Impact Management Division for Jakarta Environment Office, said that cars registered online will be prioritized for testing. “We are targeting 2500 four-wheeled vehicles.”
Vehicle emission testing will be conducted from 7 am to 3 pm.
The testing is part of preparations ahead of Asian Games 2018 and is aimed at improving air quality in the capital city during the event.
The Environment and Forestry Ministry monitored air quality in 28 cities in Indonesia in 2016. The results show that three metropolitan cities had the best air quality, namely Palembang (South Sumatra), Semarang (Central Java) and East Jakarta (Jakarta Province).
