TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - New facts have emerged following Governor Anies Baswedan`s recent accusation against staff members that worked for former Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok.

Anies accused Ahok’s staff members of being on the payroll of the private sector when Ahok was still the governor of Jakarta.

According to a former Ahok staff member Nathanael Ompusunggu, the governor’s staff is different to the governor’s transition team (TGUPP). “TGUPP consists of echelon two civil servants,” Nathanael said on Wednesday, November 22.

Nael, as he is often called, said that TGUPP or transition team members are appointed based on the governor’s decree which oversees its member’s wages that are funded by the regional budget (APBD). Meanwhile, the governor’s staff during Ahok’s era works based on the governor’s work contract with qualified non-civil servants.

Nael’s explanation was backed by Jakarta’s Head of Regional Personnel Agency (BKD) Agus Suradika, who denied that Ahok’s TGUPP team was paid by the private sector and explained that the salary of each team member comes from the regional budget.

Previously, when asked by journalists regarding the 2018 TGUPP team budget, Anies Baswedan answered by bringing-up his suspicion upon Ahok’s staff funding scheme.

“You can go and check the news. Under who’s payroll was the governor’s staff back then? You can go and compare it with the one we have now,” said Anies Baswedan on Tuesday, November 21.

Anies Baswedan allocated Rp28.5 billion to fund his current transition team, which spiked from the initially planned Rp2.3 billion.
