Setya Novanto Transferred RSCM in Central Jakarta

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has verified DPR Speaker Setya Novanto’s condition after a car accident on Thursday evening, November 16, 2017.


Today, Setya Novanto was transferred Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) located in Central Jakarta for further treatments such as CT Scan and chest screening. KPK Spokesperson Febri Diansyah confirmed that the transfer from Rumah Sakit Medika Permata Hijau in West Jakarta was recommended by KPK doctors for further investigation.


“[The transfer] is to decide the legal action that would be taken against the suspect,” said Febri.

Setya Novanto was named as the sixth suspect in a graft case surrounding the electronic ID card (e-KTP0 procurement project that dragged several other former state officials. KPK named Setya as a suspect for the second time on November 10, following numerous summons that was ignored by Setya.


Last night on November 16, the House Speaker was taken to RS Medika hospital after the car he traveled in was involved in an accident. Setya was taken out of RS Medika on a stretcher at around 12:35 p.m. under heavy police escort.


Dr. Bimanesh Sutarjo, the doctor who treated Setya Novanto, said that Setya suffered injuries on his head in addition to having a high blood pressure.
