TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The electronic identity cards (e-KTP) graft suspect Setya Novanto reportedly has had an accident and is now treated at Medika Permata Hijau Hospital, West Jakarta. Novanto’s lawyer Fredrich Yunadi has confirmed the report.

“I was told by his bodyguard that he has had an accident, [his car] rammed a pole, the windshield was shattered, he was left unconscious,” he said today at the hospital.

Setya Novanto was rushing to meet KPK for questioning, according to the lawyer.

The House Speaker suffered a severe injury and is now being treated at the emergency care unit, the lawyer said, adding that he did not know where the accident took place.

Setya Novanto was missing when the KPK came to his house for an arrest. Fredrich said that his client was out of town for work. Novanto had planned to attend Golkar meeting today.

Golkar Party secretary-general Idrus Marham believed that Setya Novanto will turn himself in.
