Jokowi Mentions Palestine Independence in ASEAN-UN Summit

TEMPO.CO, Manila - President Joko Widodo, or Jokowi , made a special request for the United Nations Secretary General Antonia Guterres regarding the Palestine conflict.
Jokowi asked for Antonio to lead the UN to contribute more in realizing the full independence for the people of Palestine.
“I understand that Palestine’s independence is not easy to achieve. However, I hope that Palestine will experience a major improvement under your leadership,” said President Jokowi during the 9th ASEAN-UN Summit that was held on Monday, November 13, in Manila.
The President also urged members of ASEAN and UN band together and synchronize the partnership that has been formed. “ASEAN and the UN has a similar mission and agenda. We have to strengthen our synergy,” said President Jokowi.
Furthermore, President Jokowi said that both organizations have the same agenda in solving world problems, one of it includes the partnership strengthening to realize world peace and also provide UN security personnel in Palestine.
