Jakarta Metro Police Holds Festival for Children

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Metro Police’s Traffic Directorate held a festival to familiarize the police institution to children. The festival was held at Taman Impian Jaya Ancol’s Pasar Seri in North Jakarta this morning.
Jakarta Metro Police’s traffic director Sr. Comr. Halim Pagarra said the festival was aimed at providing traffic education for children.
“This [event] is to provide traffic education,” Halim said at the venue today.
About 5,000 children from 250 early childhood education centers (PAUD) attended the festival that featured six competitions, namely adzan, picture matching, fashion show, prayer movements, coloring, and dance competitions.
Yufi Natakusuma, chairperson of the Jakarta branch of the Association of Indoneian Early Childhood Educators and Teachers (HIMPAUDI), positively welcomed the festival.
“All this time, police personnel seemed scary and unreachable [to children]. Now [they] are close to be reached,” Yufi said.
According to Yufi, the festival can attract children to be police officer. In fact, the curriculum introduces police officer as a profession.
