TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Ignasius Jonan has inaugurated gas stations of PT Vivo Energy Indonesia. The company’s gas stations will fully operate by November.

There are three products available at Vivo gas stations, namely Revvo 92 sold at Rp8,250 per liter, Revvo 90 at Rp7,500 per liter and Revvo 89 at Rp6,100 per liter.

The price of Vivo’s 89-octane fuel is cheaper than that of Pertamina’s 88-octane fuel, which is sold at Rp6,450 per liter in Jakarta, Madura and Bali and Rp6,550 per liter in other regions.

Meanwhile, other products are sold at the same price as Pertamina’s, namely 90-octane Pertalite and 92-octane Pertamax.

The Dutch-based company said it will not suffer loss for selling Revvo 89 cheaper than Pertamina’s. “We are here to do business, not an orphanage. So, we will not suffer loss, Insha Allah,” Vivo Energy Indonesia corporate communication officer Maldi Al-Jufria said yesterday at Vivo gas station in East Jakarta.

Energy Minister Ignasius Jonan inaugurated Vivo gas station yesterday in Cilangkap, East Jakarta. Jonan came at the unveiling since the cheap fuel price available at the gas station caught his attention.

The Minister said that people will have more gas station choices now. “The octane rating is higher and the prices are more competitive; it’s in line with the President’s instruction: to provide more affordable choices.”

He added that the government allows private firms to distribute fuel as long as they comply with the regulation.
