TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has been named five-star airline at the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) Award Ceremony Expo 2017 in Long Beach, California, the United States. APEX is a New York-based non-profit organization that aims to improve airline passengers’ experience.
Garuda Indonesia and 21 other international airlines were named Five Star Recipients of the 2018 Official Airline Rating, the first airline rating program based on the feedbacks from verified and certified passengers.
Garuda CEO Pahala N. Mansury said that the award confirmed the company’s position as a leading airline in passenger experience and comfort.
“Garuda Indonesia’s success to win the predicate as a five-star airline confirms the commitment and hard work of all employees in providing the best service to users. We would also like to express our gratitude to users who help Garuda Indonesia win the prestigious predicate,” Pahala stated in a press release received by Tempo on October 11.
Partnering with TripIt® from Concur®, a travel organizing app with the world’s highest rating, APEX got feedbacks from anonymous passengers based on their verified trips. On a one-to-five scale, over 500,000 airlines were rated by passengers across the globe from October 24, 2016, to July 31, 2017.
APEX CEO Joe Leader said in a written statement that the company is proud of the results, adding that the ratings by 100 percent verified passengers were the basis of the Official Airline Ratings with TripIt.
Earlier in December 2014, Garuda Indonesia was named “The World’s 5-Star Airline” by Skytrax, a London-based independent airline ratings agency.
