TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The suspected in the alleged corruption in the electronic identity card (e-KTP) procurement, Setya Novanto, will not attend his pre-trial hearing at the South Jakarta District Court today, September 20.

According to Golkar party member Nurul Arifin, Setya is still undergoing medical treatment after a heart surgery at the Jatinegara Premiere Hospital on Monday, Sept. 18.

"I met him last night and he was still in the ICU. He still has to undergo follow-up examinations," Nurul told Tempo on Wednesday.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) spokesman Febri Diansyah said that the antigraft body's medical team has also visited Setya Novanto after the minor surgery on Sunday. According Febri, the House of Representative's (DPR) speaker was seen resting without IV or oxygen.

"He needs the rest so that the doctors can see what effects the surgery has on him and decide what medical actions to take," Febri said.

Due to his health conditions, the Golkar Party chairman cannot attend the KPK examination as a suspect in the e-KTP scandal.

Setya Novanto is suspected of enriching himself or other parties and corporates by abusing his authority in e-KTP case. The scandal has incurred a state loss of at least Rp2.3 trillion from the procurement package value of around Rp5.9 trillion.
