TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Suspect in the electronic identity cards (e-KTP) graft case Setya Novanto has skipped the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) questioning scheduled for today. Golkar Party spokeswoman Nurul Arifin said that Novanto is currently undergoing a medical examination at Jatinegara Premier Hospital.
She said that Setya Novanto was transferred from Premier Hospital on Sunday night to Siloam Hospital, South Jakarta.
The KPK had earlier scheduled Novanto’s questioning for today. Last week, the House Speaker also missed the KPK questioning due to illness. Golkar Party Secretary-General Idrus Marham, who delivered a doctor’s note to the KPK, said that Novanto had suffered from recurrent diabetes and vertigo. “They affect kidney and heart functions,” Marham said last week.
Golkar spokeswoman Nurul has played down the rumor of Notanto faking illness to dodge the KPK questioning.
Setya Novanto was named a suspect in the e-KTP graft case by the KPK in July. The KPK prosecutors mentioned Novanto’s alleged involvement in the indictment against two defendants in the e-KTP graft: Irman and Sugiharto.
