TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - State-owned airport operator Angkasa Pura II announced that the Soekarno-Hatta Airport train will be operational on September 17. The Soekarno-Hatta Skytrain will transport passengers from Terminal 3 to Terminal 2.
“Everything is well-prepared, but we're still waiting for the Directorate General of Railways to issue the [airport train] operational permit,” said Angkasa Pura II Spokesman Yado Yarismano on Wednesday, September 13.
Based on the Skytrain’s test results during the previous month, its carriage and other supporting infrastructures such as the railway, power supply, and shelter are ready for a fully-pledged operation.
The operational worthiness verification process will be conducted by the Directorate General of Railways, Angkasa Pura II, Wika, and Len Industri, on Thursday. “The verification process tomorrow will be followed up by the issuance of its permit from the Directorate General of Railways,” said Yado.
The sophisticated airport train is an Automated People Mover System (APMS) that is equipped with an automated guideway transit (AGT) system that runs on self-propelled rubber wheels. The Skytrain's speed can reach up to 60 kilometers per hour.
