Indonesia U19 Beat Myanmar 2 - 1, Egy Scores Brace

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia U-19 beat Myanmar 2-1 yesterday in the AFF U-18 Youth Championship Group B in Thuwunna Stadium, Yangon. Egy Maulana Vikri scored a brace in that match.


Myanmar led in the 28th minute via attacking midfielder Myat Kaung Khant. Myanmar’s No. 8 slotted the ball home after an assist from Indonesia’s right-hand side.


In the second half, Indonesia stepped up the pressure on Myanmar defense and created some chances.


Egy scored the equalizing goal with a header in the 70th minute after a goal-mouth scramble.


Indonesia’s secured the victory in the 93rd minute through Egy’s left footed shot. The 17-year-old attacker dribbled through Myanmar left-hand side before curling the ball past goalkeeper Yan Soe. Indonesia ended the match with a 2-1 victory.


The other match in Group B saw Brunei beat the Philippines 3-2. Meanwhile, in Group A, Malaysia smashed Laos 4-1, Thailand hammered Timor-Leste 3-0 and Singapore defeated Cambodia 5-3 on Monday.


Indonesia U-19 will play their second match tomorrow against the Philippines at Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon.
