West Java is the region with the most number of inmates that receive remission, while the second and third spot went to North Sumatra and East Java.
Indonesia’s prison sentence remission is regulated under Law No. 12/1995 on Correctional and Government Regulation No. 32/1999 on the Requirements and Practice of the Rights of Correctional Inmates.
The sentence remission is separated into two categories, namely RU I and RU II. The inmates who receive RU I will still have to undergo their prison sentence after the reduction. Meanwhile, inmates that receive the RU II will be immediately released.
