TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Residents of Bekasi City, West Java, were surprised by the change of name of the road in East Bekasi in the application Google Maps, Sunday, August 6, 2017. Dewi Sartika's true street name in the application has been changed to the name of Dangdut singer, Dewi Persik. "I was shocked to see it, why has it been changed to Dewi Persik street," said Eko Prasetyo.

In fact, the road connecting Jalan Madmuin Hasibuan with Jalan Juanda in Kelurahan Margahayu, East Bekasi originally had the name of the national heroine, Dewi Sartika. Eko noticed the change the first time when ordering online transportation from Bekasi Jaya Indah to Jalan Dewi Sartika at around 12:30 pm.

Apparently, when typing the name of the street, the street name Dewi Persik appears. "Since when did the street name change into the name of a Dangdut singer?" he said. Eko asked the local government to intervene and ask to change the name of the road to the application provider company.

As a resident of Bekasi City, Eko pleaded insulted. "The company must explain, why a street named after a hero has been changed to the name of a Dangdut singer," said Eko. Based on the observation of Tempo until this morning, Monday, August 7, 2017, the street name Dewi Persik, Kelurahan Margahayu, District of East Bekasi is still listed in the application Google Maps.
