TEMPO.CO, Pekanbaru - State-owned lender Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN) has launched 2,126 affordable housing units with 5 percent fixed-rate mortgage for 20-year terms and 1 percent down payment. The houses are being offered to low-income people (MBR) through BTN subsidized house ownership credit scheme (KPR).
Pekanbaru residents can buy an affordable house with Rp750,000 installment per month. “After supporting an affordable housing [project] in Balikpapan [Kalimantan], we are back with affordable housing units in Pekanbaru,” BTN president director Maryono said in a written statement received by Tempo yesterday.
Aside from low installment, Maryono said that people wanting to buy affordable houses through BTN subsidized KPR scheme will get Rp4 million for down payment from the government.
Maryono said that this year, the bank will be committed to supporting the development of affordable housing projects and distribute BTN subsidized KPR scheme for 504,122 houses. The company with BBTN ticker symbol is also aiming to finance the construction of non-subsidized housing projects and KPR for 161,878 houses. All in all, BTN expects to distribute construction and KPR credit for 666,000 houses by the end of this year to support the One Million Housing Program.
