TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Press Council chairman Yosep Stanley Adi Prasetyo said that the Press Council is planning to make a guideline on how to report news related to sadistic murder committed by a mentally disturbed perpetrator and suicide news.

Stanley explained that media in several countries namely in Europe and Australia do not report suicide news since they concern that people who have psychiatric problems or suffer from depression will try to do the same thing.

"In Europe and Australia, media avoid reporting suicide news. It is not regulated by code of ethics, but it is perhaps a common sense that journalists need to be aware of," he said on Sunday (23/7).

"I personally will make an effort through Press Council to develop a guideline on how to cover suicide news," he continued.
