Kebayoran Lama Police HQ Receives Threats, ISIS Flag

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Kebayoran Lama Police Headquarter in South Jakarta received a flag that resembles an ISIS symbol sent by an unknown individual on Tuesday morning.


“That is correct, around 05:30 am a police personnel discovered a flag bearing Arabic words Lailahaillahaillallah on it, which highly resembles the ISIS symbol,” said South Jakarta Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Commissioner Alam Nur today, July 4.

According to Alam, a police personnel saw a man riding a motorcycle who suddenly stopped in front of the police headquarter. The alleged perpetrator left the scene in a hurry once the police personnel walked toward the man.


Police followed up this incident by immediately conducted a search at the surrounding area. Other than a flag that resembles the ISIS symbol, police also discovered a water bottle that had a letter in it.


“The letter contained threats addressed to the Police, Military and other units,” said Alam.


Police are currently checking CCTV footage from surrounding areas and have questioned several witnesses that were in the area during the incident.
