Train Passengers Rises By 6 Percent During Eid

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) president director Edi Sukmoro estimated that until 15 days after Eid or 11 July 2017, the number of passengers will reach 6 to 7 million. "It rises 6 percent compared to the same period last year," he said on Saturday (1/7).


Until 3 days after Eid, he explained, the number of Eid homecoming and exodus passengers reached 3.8 million. The peak of exodus is estimated from Friday (30/6) to 1 July 2017. "4 days and 5 days after Eid are the peaks of exodus flow," he added.

He said that the number of trains will be added due to the high enthusiasm of passengers to travel by train for Eid. "Next year we will add more trains to provide more seats," Edi added. This year the number of train passengers increases 4.9 percent as many as 228,000 per day from 217,000 passengers per day in 2016.
