TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Sukabumi administration, West Java, has prohibited trucks with large loads from passing Sukabumi during Eid homecoming and exodus period. The policy will be implemented on trucks that not load food and fuel starting on Sunday, June 18.

"The prohibition is in accordance with Transportation Ministry Land Transport Regulation Number SK.2717/AJ201/DRJD/2017 on 13 May 2017 on prohibition of large-capacity trucks, except food and fuel trucks, to operate starting from Sunday, June 18, to Monday, July 3," Sukabumi Transportation Agency’s head of operation control division Agus Ahmad said on Saturday, June 17.

The regulation stipulates that the trucks prohibited from accessing Sukabumi are trucks carrying construction materials, non-fuel mine products, trailer trucks, tow trucks, containers, goods vehicles with maximum 14 tons of load and trucks with 3 or more axles.

Meanwhile, trucks granted access are trucks carrying food, cattle, gas, fuel, mail, export/import goods from and to a harbor and specially tagged vehicles that carry motorcycles for free homecoming transport.

Agus said that such prohibition is intended to anticipate problems that might happen during the periods of Eid homecoming and exodus such as heavy congestion and traffic accidents.
