Jokowi Wants Islamic Countries to Invest in Indonesia

TEMPO.CO, Tasikmalaya - President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo said that Indonesia expects more investments from Islamic countries. Today, the majority of investments are from the United States, Japan, China, Singapore and South Korea.


"I want a balance. That is why we are trying to approach (to leaders of Islamic countries)," Jokowi said in Tasikmalaya on Saturday (10/6).

Jokowi explained that he has met Emir Qatar Syekh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, Syekh Muhammed from the United Arab Emirates a few times, Suadi Arabian King Salman bin Abdulazis, and Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. In addition, he met Syekh Bahrain and Oman will also visit Indonesia.


"What is it for? To have a balance, we cannot let the United States, Japan, China, Singapore, South Korea dominate investments in our country. I want a balance," Jokowi said.
