TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State oil and gas giant Pertamina and state gas company PGN signed a head of agreement to build pipelines connecting Duri and Dumai in Riau. The Duri-Dumai gas pipe project will become an important milestone of gas utilization in Sumatra.
“The Duri-Dumai gas transmission pipeline will be finally realized. It’s not just a paper signing. The head of agreement has covered the project’s detailed scope of work,” Pertamina gas, new and renewable energy director Yenni Andayani said at the State-Owned Ministry in Jakarta today.
PGN managing director Jobi Trianada Hasjim said that the Duri-Dumai pipeline is expected to be fully operational in the third quarter of 2018. Jobi added that the groundbreaking for the project is scheduled to be conducted in the third quarter of 2017.
Pertamina will own 60 persent of the stake, while PGN will own the rest. With a capital expenditure amounting to US$76 million, the project will be directly designed by the two companies.
“After the signing, we will immediately work at a full speed. We will not only distribute gas from PGN, but also from Pertamina. Therefore, the gas distribution to the refinery in Dumai will be more efficient,” Jobi explained.
