Police Calls for No Rally During Rizieqs Repatriation

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Mochamad Iriawan called on Islamic Defender Front (FPI) leader Rizieq Shihab not to deploy mass when returning to Indonesia.
“There’s no need to organize a mass rally because the problem will remain exist,” Iriawan said in Jakarta on Thursday, June 8, 2017.
Iriawan asserted that despite public pressure, the legal process for Rizieq will remain underway.He added that the allegation of being involved in smartphone chats containing pornographic materials is Rizieq’s personal case.

Iriawan also called on the public not to be concerned with the plan to pick up Rizieq Shihab and his family from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
FPI lawyer Sugito Atmo Prawiro confirmed the plan to mobilize Rizieq’s supporters to the airport. However, Sugito said that he could not confirm the exact date of Rizieq’s return from Saudi Arabia.
Earlier, reports said that Rizieq Shihab would return to Indonesia on June 12, 2017. FPI spokesperson Slamet Maarif confirmed the report.
