TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Police is working with Interpol to find the whereabouts of Islamic Defender Front (FPI) leader Rizieq Shihab.
“We’re still working with Interpol,” Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono said at his office on Thursday, June 1, 2017.
The National Police’s International Relation Division continues to communicate with Interpol. However, no official decision has been made in relation to the case.
Earlier on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, the Jakarta Police included Rizieq in its most-wanted list.
The Jakarta Police also works closely with the immigration office in the attempt to locate Rizieq. However, Argo could not yet confirm Rizieq’s current location. According to Argo, Rizieq was last known to be in Saudi Arabia.
Argo said that investigators are still completing Rizieq’s dossiers to ensure that nothing is missed.
Rizieq has been officially named as a suspect in a case surrounding smartphone chats containing pornographic materials that allegedly took place between him and Firza Hussein. The Jakarta police have questioned Firza, while Riziq failed to attend two police summonses. Rizieq was reportedly in Malaysia before heading to Saudi Arabia.
